You may have one of the fitness apps (Battle Ready 360, we hope), gym membership, a new training partner, or have invested in a fitness routine of your own. Either way, you will need to look within to find the motivation you need to keep on going.
In this article, we are going to share some top tips for keeping that fire burning and get that motivation through the roof! Let’s get you out of that run and fired up for some serious achievement!
Create a vision board
A vision board is a fantastic way to visualise your fitness goals. Grab a board and pin to it everything you want to achieve, be it a picture of a dream physique, an invite to a specific sporting event, whatever it is, get it on your board. Seeing these positive affirmations of your goals each day will remind you why you are doing it, and keep you motivated to achieve your goals.
SHOUT YOUR MOUTH OFF
Admittedly, this technique might not be for everyone, but it does work. It’s not nice looking like a failure is it? The best thing you can do is NOT fail. What you need to do, as crazy as it sounds, is shout your mouth off about your goals. Do you want to achieve something in sports? Want to lose a certain amount of weight? Whatever your goal is, tell people. Post it on social media, tell your friends and family, so they will ask you about it. Doing this, means you have set expectations of yourself, and to avoid looking like a fool, you will push yourself to achieve what you need to.
Make yourself accountable for your own progress
Relating to the point above, this one is a little more fine tuned. So you have committed to your new goal, it’s time to monitor progress and make yourself accountable. Here’s how…
Keep a diary of your progress – Workouts, lifts etc., so you will feel a sense of achievement.
Tick off days on your calendar – This will make you realise you are achieving something on every single one of these days.
Check in days – Have a check-in day with yourself. Choose one day a week where you will take your new weights, measurements, or look over your diary, to see if you are progressing with numbers.
Reward yourself – you deserve it!
Ensure you make time to reward yourself! If you are working towards a goal, then you will need a few pit stops on the way, in order to keep you motivated and ready to keep moving forward. There are a number of ways you can reward yourself. These can include:
A cheat meal – A good quality cheat meal at the end of the week to reward your hard efforts. Plan it carefully, and boy, will it taste good when you deserve it!
A trip out – This doesn’t have to be complicated; it can be a cinema date, a drink at the pub or a meal out. Anything to get you out of your daily routine and give you something to look forward to.
Some new gym gear – Sometimes it just feels good to look good. Treat yourself to some gym wear that you will feel good in – it really does wonders for the motivation.
Staying motivated doesn’t have to be a drag. Adopt some of the above tips and you should feel more motivated than ever. Remember that when aiming for certain goals, consistency is key; always remember the end reward and why you are doing it.
